Florida UCC Women

Florida UCC WomenPresident’s Message 2017

Greetings to all women belonging to a United Church of Christ church,

Hello Women of the Florida Conference of the United Church of Christ.  Whether you began the year in anticipation or in trepidation, I believe it is very important that we remember one indisputable fact: GOD is in control. Therefore, our job is to pray, listen and obey. God will use any and all situations and people to further his kingdom, and as his children, we must keep the faith and BELIEVE. As difficult as it may seem for some, we must profess, live and show love to all … to all. That is our duty and our calling. It is what Jesus demands of us, and because of what he has done for us, we can do no less.

Regional Meetings began on Jan. 21 and will continue until Feb. 25. Our focus this year is on our Annual Conference scheduled for May 5-7 at Chateau Elan in Sebring, Fla. We are excited to Honor our Past, Celebrate or Present and Embrace our Future (our theme for this year). It is our 90th year, and we are looking forward to celebrating that milestone with at least 90 of you. Information and registration is available on this website.

Following that, we will work towards attending the Southern Regional in October in Texas. More information about that will be forthcoming. Our liaison to Southern Regional is Bert Perry, and she will keep us updated on the plans and the Florida UCC Women’s responsibilities for Southern Regional. I know that for the past couple of years we have been experiencing confusion with the website. Light has appeared and is shining brightly. We have a new webmaster, and the website will be undergoing some transparent changes in the next couple of months. Everything you need to be kept abreast of will be posted on the website.

Here are some important deadlines you need to be aware of for our Annual Conference:

  • Lay Woman of the Year nominations are due by March 1.
  • Reading for Renewal deadline is April 15.
  • Early bird registration for the Annual Conference is April 1.

Please let us know if something has been overlooked, or if you would like to serve in a more hands-on capacity.

It is an honor to serve the Women of the Florida Conference. God bless all of you, and keep praying.
